"BV and pre-term delivery"

About: The Ulster Hospital / Maternity

(as the patient),

On the 1st of July 2012 I delivered my son at the Ulster maternity hospital. Ben, my little man lived for only 2 hours 33 minutes. You see, Ben was born when I was 23weeks and 3 days pregnant, 4 days too soon before doctors could help him. I went for a check up on the Thursday which was week 23 of my pregnancy as I was having irregular discharge. This was my second pregnancy, but as the first ended in misscarriage at 12 weeks it was the first time we felt safe. The doctors and midwives were fantastic. You see I had an infection which has spread to my womb, BV, or Bacterial Vaginiois. It caused my waters to rupture leading to an early delivery. My care was remarkable, we as a family were made very aware of the situation, as hard as it was the team at the Ulster Maternity Hospital done everything they could to help my little man make it to 24 weeks. Unfortunatly Ben came on Sunday morning at 4. 47am nothing could be done. I watched my son so helpless and unable to help, it felt so cruel leaving him to die but I knew that the hospital couldnt intervene.
