"The new inpatient facility nearing completion"

About: Lancashire & South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust

(as other),

Being involved from the start of the discussions regarding the new inpatient facility, carers/users/clinicians/goveners and others were involved for the build.

5 groups presented their plans and visions at the first meeting.

At the second meeting, with the same group of people, only two 2 presenters had listened to the views and they have significantly changed their plans. Needless to say they were appointed. It is good to see that hard work and completion is now nearing completion.

Thank you for this posting. We assume that it refers to service user and carer involvement in the design selection process to appoint the architects who would work with us on the design of our first mental health inpatient unit. During this process we ran a mini-design competition.

The results showed that the architects BDP and Gilling Dodd were the most successful at addressing the requirements of our service users and carers. BDP were appointed and undertook the master planning and informed the client brief design development. Subsequently for the technical delivery of the client brief our contractor sub-contracted this to Gilling Dodd.

The Trust has achieved planning consent for the development of its first unit, The Harbour at Whyndyke Farm in Blackpool. The Trust’s joint venture partner, Red Rose Corporate services is presently seeking funding for the building development which has been named as ‘The Harbour’.
