"Dont use my hydration cart.. its not for making..."

About: George Eliot Hospital NHS Trust

Just visited my wife on AMU, nursing staff really nice, helpfull and caring....

Well until i tried to make my wife a drink of decaf tea.

I bought the tea bags in, all i wanted was a cup, water and some milk... i thought i can make her a drink, save the staff time and trying to be helpful..

Started off ok, the hydration cart was in the middle of the ward by the nursing station, and the relevant utensils, cups and services... then where's the milk?

So i went and knocked on the kitchen door, where i found two HCAs having a good old natter....(not work related); i asked politely, 'excuse me ladies, could i have some milk, to make my wife a drink please?'; to my horror...they replied, 'you cant use the hydration trolley, its not there for you to use..' ...i replied 'well i have half made the drink, can i have some milk please?', to the reply 'No, we will make drinks in a while'.

i ended up getting a nurse to get me the milk..

how rude, and what a waste of trained resource, a fully qualfied nurse understanding my milk plight.... the hydration cart was in the open, did not have any notices 'authorised staff only'..'family and friends, keep your hands off'..... then to top it off, when one of the HCAs finally came round to offer drinks to the other patients... my wife was missed out...obviously didn't want to engage with relatives....

Unfortunatly, i dont believe they will read this and definately won't comprehend its them i am dissapointed with... what a storm in a tea cup'....?
