My husband recently had hip replacement surgery at the hospital. The care from consultation to home recovery has been outstanding. He had to stay in hospital a few days longer than planned for tests but we were kept fully informed of results and progress.
The staff on the ward from nurses to cleaners and meal deliverers were friendly professional and reassuring.
From pre surgery information until 2 weeks after discharge the hospital to home team did an excellent job visiting every 2 days to help with advice on recovery, pain management, wound care and exercises. They gave my husband so much support and confidence, that he was walking without crutches or a stick, within 4 weeks.
The benefits of this service should be shared as best practice with other hospitals as there is no doubt it speeded recovery and negated the need to visit the GP for pain management or removal of clips.
