"Disappointed"

About: Rooksdown Practice

Having lived in this area four and a half years now my experience of this practice has not been particularly good. After moving house and having to leave my practice where I have been a very satisfied patient for 25 plus years, to say I was very apprehensive at my “new” GP practice being run out of a portable cabin, was an understatement! I did not know from one appointment to the next who my GP was going to be and the reception staff were, on most occasions, abrupt and rude to say the least.

So, with a new surgery built at least surroundings were better but service still not up to scratch. Although I would like to mention that the reception staff, and in particular one young lady, who has been a pleasure to talk to.

None of the miserable faces and grunts and groans that were common place. The CCG have agreed with most of the reviews about the running of the practice and so at the beginning of the month changes were made.

The fact that I am leaving this review makes me very cross as I think that this practice deserves a chance. However, the doctor that I saw today has left me feeling like I had interrupted their day. Firstly, when I walk into a doctor’s consulting room I do not expect to see that doctor sat on their chair like a child at school.

By this I mean by sitting on one of their legs whilst the other was left dangling.

Not a professional image.

I had one problem that I wanted advice on and also information about another. At first I was told the second problem would be dealt with “later” after the first was dealt with. By later I thought this would be in the consultation but I was wrong. I realised this when the doctor stood up (I thought to exam me) but he was showing me the door. I felt slightly embarrassed and shuffled out as quickly as I could.

I kept trying to justify how I was treated but embarrassment quickly turned to annoyance.

Okay maybe I should have asked for a double appointment but I was not asking for much more of the doctor’s time. How long have we all sat waiting well over our appointment times?

And I do not mean just 10 or 15 minutes.

All said and done, I have learnt from my “mistake” today let’s hope the same can be said for doctors at this practice.
