On pressing the button to gain access a rather hurried lady in scrubs asked why I was there, she let me in saying take a seat, someone will get to you.
I am a larger lady, and eventually a HCA came to check me in, she very abruptly told me, "I suppose I better go get you a bigger gown" upon her return she told me that the small one would have to do. Then she very rudely told me my BP was too high (she was told I have white coat syndrome) then she asked me "what you doing with your stuff?" I said I only have a small bag, it can all go in there, she said, no it can't, your partner can take it. My HUSBAND had to go back to work, so he left me in the ward with literally my book, he had to take all my clothes and mobile phone with him.
After transferring up to the surgical admissions department,
I waited over two hours for my operation to be cancelled. Now while I understand operations run over, but I was left without food or water having been nil by mouth since 9.30pm the previous evening. My operation was cancelled at 4.45pm. I had no clothes, nor any means of contacting my husband.
What upset me the most was not even being offered a cup of tea when I had to go call my husband using the ward phone.
I can't fault the nurse on the surgical admissions she was lovely, but I did feel that I should have been able to have somewhere secure to leave my personal belongings, my clothes and mobile phone
"OP cancelled"
