"Telephone Access"

About: Great Clacton Medical Practice

Today I tried to get the results of recent blood tests.

I phoned the surgery from my landline and was told I was No.1 in the queue.

I stayed on the line for 45 minutes but the phone was not answered.

Whilst still holding on on the landline I used my mobile to phone the same number and was once again told I was No.1 in the queue.

After a further 15 minutes holding on on both phones making a total of 1 hour, the landline phone was answered.

I obtained my results and then asked the receptionist why it had taken an hour to answer when I was No.1.

She said she did not know.

I find this totally unacceptable that anyone should have to wait this long for a phone to be answered no matter how busy the surgery is.

Someone should be responsible for answering any incoming calls.

This could have been an emergency.
