I attended Royal Blackburn Hospital for my regular INR check at the anti-coagulation clinic and apologised to them for having postponed the appointment from the previous week.
However, once I explained that I had suffered a significant fall and banged my head (again!) at home, the nurse refused to allow me to leave hospital without A and E ensuring that there was no bleeding in the brain or broken bones!
So, I was kidnapped!
The nurse took me by wheelchair to A & E and had me processed for examination.
Despite the department being very busy, I received the most wonderful care and support; so much so, that any apprehension or anxiety simply disappeared.
I'm pleased to report that, apart from bruising, there was no evidence of internal bleeding and I left the hospital, after five hours treatment and testing, feeling relieved and able to continue with my life.
In particular, I would like to thank the nurse in the anti-coagulation clinic, all the staff in A and E and, later, Mary (from occupational therapy) for their support, compassion and expertise.
Thank you!
"Kidnapped!"
