"Follow up after kids fracture"

About: Northwick Park Hospital / Trauma and orthopaedics

(as a parent/guardian),

My daughter fractured her hand & been taken to Northwick Park hospital. on the day hand could not get straight enough so we been asked to come for a day surgery & we been told everything is fine after hand is been fixed under general anaesthetic. until this point we are happy with the care we received from hospital staff & doctors.

We went for the follow up appointment & we been seen by a doctor after more than 2hours wait where they mentioned hand is not very straight it’s could have been better but they're happy with how it is & it’s on the border of whether or not to go for surgery. Told us happy to ask for second opinion & will let us know in couple of days.

its nearly 3 weeks now & we did not receive any communication from hospital & when rang the hospital after transferring the call or kept on hold for long & getting disconnected finally we got the answer she’s been discharged from hospital & we need to follow up with the GP. When check with the follow up appointment booking desk they told there is no follow up appointment.

When we contact the GP surgery we been told only up date they got is that we asked for second opinion & GP surgery can not remove the casts on hand   as they don’t have a facility for it & they can’t advice us on it as GP is not a fracture specialist so we need to contact hospital. rang the hospital this evening & answered by a person who very rude & really don’t seem to know how to talk to utterly disappoint with the care we’re getting from this NHS trust.
