"Positive Experience"

About: Stoke Gifford Medical Centre

I had a serious and unpredictable condition and was advised to wait at least six months until to was safe to operate. I am now almost fully recovered thanks to the care I received from all the surgery team over that time. In total I had over 50 telephone and surgery visits and encountered the reception staff, the phlebotomists, and the nurses as well as the nurse practitioner and many of the GPs.

I can truly say everyone of them exceeded my expectation of what good patient care looks and feels like.

Of particular note was the readiness of all parties to involve me in decisions and taking responsibility for my care, and the way my situation was properly assessed at each stage so that I was directed to the right person at the right time.

I would like to thank in no particular order, the phlebotomist for ensuring I hardly felt a thing when they took blood, the receptionists for being the most patient people in the world, the GPs for the way they explained some of the medical complexities to me, and the nurse practitioner for her ongoing support, and spotting a rare progression of my condition.

Finally I noted the surgery waiting areas were always clean, and in spite of an IT upgrade, the communication tools worked well, so thank you to the support staff who I didn’t get to see as well.

I completely understand that others may have had an experience they felt to be less good than this and I wish they could have had a similar positive experience to mine.
