I (male) underwent surgery on 25 March 2019 and was extremely nervous about it! The consultant surgeon arranged for me to speak with the anesthetist ahead of going to Day Surgery to let me talk through my fears and worries. Everyone spoke honestly and was reassuring - and outline any risks, what to expect, and what was very-rare-but-it-it-happens-this-is-what-we-do.
At all times, myself and my (male) partner were treated with respect and dignity. He was contacted by the consultant surgeon as soon as I was awake and told which ward to go to (F5?).
The ward sisters were brilliant and caring, a perfect mix of supportive and no-nonsense. Everything was clean and in good order.
Outpatient appointments once discharged were done swiftly and the admin staff were very friendly.
It's odd to say 'I'd go back!' given I don't want to have to have surgery again, but I really do recommend the teams here to look after you.
"Excellent care and good humour"
