On February 6th I was rushed to Pinderfields hospital and diagnosed with a rare type of Leukaemia at just 26 years old.
I spent an entire month on ward 21 in isolation, receiving over 40 blood product transfusions (red bloods cells, platelets, cryo), 4 doses of chemotherapy, countless bags of fluid, potassium, antibiotics, and hundreds of tablets.
I owe my life to each and every member of staff that worked on this ward, from the sister that brought me an extra trifle to cheer me up, the registrar that performed 2 bone marrow biopsies, to the tea lady that didn't even need to ask what I wanted, she knew it by heart!
There's not a single negative thing I have to say about any of the amazing staff and the treatment that I received too whilst on the ward. I regularly call in when I'm in the hospital and miss them all dearly (though I'm glad I'm no longer an in patient!).
Please feel free to contact me if you want me to do any more in depth reviews.
