"Mental health Support Mixed."

About: Lincolnshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust

Mental health Support in Lincolnshire provided by the trust I have found to be mixed.

At the point of contact some individuals have been practically very good in dealing with mental health.

Unfortunately I found that moving area means that this trust will not offficially regard a previous mental health diagnosis. This has meant that have not had the support that I need, previous trauma is not acknowledged or recognised and previous evidence is ignored.

Waiting times are often longer than six months.

Waiting times for some services are near two years.

I applied for help with my mental health in Lincolnshire as soon as I started to live with my family. We received little to no help despite asking. My family became frustrated with me and thought that I was not applying for help. When I self referred my family made me homeless in the false belief the trust would have to treat me.

The consultant who I initially saw me dismissed my medical history at Boston Pilgrim Hospital. The impact from this consultation meant that I could not get the help I needed. I did not receive adequate help with housing. I was discharged homeless. In hindsight staff were inadequately trained in dealing with homelessness. I was discharged from pilgrim hospital with two bags. Staff failed to safeguard me. My old support workers from another charity and area even telephoned staff at the pilgrim trying to inform staff about there responsibility in law.

I tried getting help through PALS to prevent homelessness and get the help I needed. I was however dismissed. The set up for PALS mental health in Boston was impractical and not fit for service.

I found that Boston Crisis team sometimes did not work. I do not trust some of the staff within the Boston Crisis team. The Samaritans were more helpful and I understand that many people have had similar experiences with the crisis team.

The biggest challenge in getting mental health support in Lincolnshire has been the bearocracy.

I found the charity mind to be very helpful, shelter as well. If however I could afford it I would arrange private health care.

Unfortunately Lincolnshire seems very rural, underfunded, not up to date and at the moment very segregated.

Some staff were very thorough, kind and caring especially in Lincoln (this is probably because there is a university there).

I am only just surviving, I have a place to live (for now). My mental health is very poor Lincolnshire is very isolating and not many people speak English where I live and my Russian, Eastern European language skills are poor. I am a vulnerable adult in a social minority in a segregated and poor area. There is not a lot of support for people who have complex needs but have no addiction issues.

I have been told by one charity that I will need to go private to get the support and counselling that I need. I am on a low income/benefits and even with some of the help I receive it is a struggle to cover my housing costs.

I was so sorry to read that you have had such mixed experiences in accessing the support that you require since moving into the area.

I am unsure if it was the LPFT PALS team who you have already spoken to or the one at Pilgrim Hospital, but we would like to speak to you to understand your current situation and explore what we can do to help you. Please contact our team via email at pals@lpft.nhs.uk or alternatively you could telephone on 01529 222265

We take feedback very seriously at Lincolnshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust and want to do all we can to improve people's experiences of services

Kind Regards
