I attended the MIU at Newton Abbot today and was so impressed by the staff, both at the main reception desk and the unit itself, as all were friendly, caring and professional. I was seen almost immediately and received treatment for a dog bite. The very competent nurse dressed the wound with an iodine dressing and I was given antibiotics. I was also gently advised it would have been more wise to have attended on the day I was bitten, not two days later when infection had set in, as I had rather foolishly done! I had very carefully cleaned the wound with antiseptic wipes etc., at the time thinking all would be okay but apparently dog bites, even small ones like the one I received, can frequently become infected no matter how carefully the wound is cleaned at the time. Useful and informative advice for me to remember and perhaps for those reading this review. Really good experience all round from a team doing a great job. We are fortunate to have this excellent hospital in Newton Abbot.
"Excellent MIU"
