"Hernia Surgery"

I was referred to the consultant surgeon at the Surgical Day Care Unit at John Coupland Hospital in Gainsborough for repair of my umbilical hernia. It took about 2 months from referral to appointment. I confess to being nervous about the prospect but after meeting the team and speaking with the consultant my anxiety was put to rest. They gave me an appointment for the procedure11 days later. On arrival yesterday I was booked in and prepped and went through to the theatre where I was given a local and "something to relax me". It worked, I spent the entire time of the procedure chatting merrily with the nurses and was done in very short order. The entire thing took less than 3 hours from start to leaving and I was treated with friendly respect throughout. Today (24 hrs later) the surgery site feels bruised but nowhere near as painful as expected. I would have no hesitation in recommending this consultant and his team at John Coupland Hospital.
