"You say we will be listened to"

About: Rampton Hospital / Mental Health Service

(as the patient),

Erskine ward. Safe. Staff seems to make their own rules I feel like I will never get out of here. You say we will be listened to but I would like to see the top managers come and attend our ward community meetings; we never seem to see the top people

stop Staff saying negative things sometimes a joke is a joke, Staff should know the difference. Caring. I don’t feel cared for you need more staff on here. but I think staff work here for the wrong reasons. we do need IT access and also when staff forget to do things we have to remind them. When incidents happen Staff say we have done things when we have not, get the CCTV to record sound and you would see what we are saying is right Stop staff making allegations on RIO always you say the Staff are right. Is that fair? The Day room gets locked up far to often why? ? ? ? Please look into this And please don’t use seclusion as a punishment.

Hi There,

Thank you for sharing your thougths with us.

As a manager of the hosital I do try visit the wards as much as I and several of us do work a shift on the wards to try and get to see you but this is a challenge to see each ward evry day or week as the hospital is so big. I am aware that you Matron and Deputy Matron attend your ward weekly so if you have anything you want to discuss you can talki to them or you can write to me anytime and I always respond. I am happy to attend any community meeting if you invite me as this is your meeting and you shoudl be incharge of who you want there.

I agree that some staff try and make the day fun and sometimes they get this wrong with " banter". We are workign hard to ensure staff remian professioanl and don't breach this boundry. If you feel something is said or gone to far please tell the staff member or a perosn you can talk to. We do have CCTV but unable to have sound to this for privacy reasons. We are looking at piloting bodycams for certain staff.

If you want to ensure your voice is heard you can add a note to your own records under section 18 which is for a patient to ensure they have their voice documented as well. Please speak with your ward manager to help you do this.

Thank you

Adele Fox

Thanks for ths posting. Like Adele, I'd always go to a community meeting if asked.

I'm interested in your point about "banter". I think this is something we need to be clearer about. Sometimes it's well intentioned as Adele says but I'm thinking more and more that there might be a big learning point for everyone about this: we perhaps need to be clearer with each other about always using simple, respectful language.

Best wishes.

Peter
