"Ambulance worker"

About: South East Coast Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust / Emergency ambulance

(as a service user),

Hi

I was cycling in the countryside Frant near Tunbridge Wells on Sunday when i fell incredibly ill with excruciating pain on my upper right abdomen.

I couldnt call an ambulance myself and had to be assisted by a passerby.

I couldnt breathe, nor could i move. It felt like a kidney stone.

By the time the ambulance arrived my colic was passing and i was in less pain.

The ambulance worker, not the driver, had an horrible ironic grin, like if i am wasting time.

I was struggling to get up the 3 steps and they just stood there with a grin without helping me to climb the steps.

I felt 100 times worse, worries as if i m in some person's hands who couldnt care less and was actually angry at me.

When i described my agony they laughed it off, said they thought I just panicked.

I have given birth to two kids and this pain was much worse and their diagnosis of my horrible pain was that i was panicking  (?)

Wow! I just had what it turns out a gall stone/ gall colics and this ambulance worker showed no empathy whatsoever

I said: could you please bring me to hospital?

I got the reply that they are not a taxi. I should take a taxi if I want to go to hospital.

I found it extremely humiliating

I didnt say anything as i was scared they would leave me there (we were in the countryside)

They eventually brought me to A&E where i was helped.

I am still shocked by this event and i would hesitate to call an ambulance again and maybe it would be more efficient to call a taxi
