With our community it is hard for new Patients

(as the patient),

I am A Patient on Blake ward.

Safety is 1st and Staff work ok with relationships. to aid safety more activities would be good. With new Patients on observations it locks down the ward, this could be better for us other Patients. Being effective I would like more time with my named nurse but I am happy with my Named Nurse. Relating to caring this ward should be a treatment ward. Move the Staff that don’t like it on here, some staff are unwilling to help. When we get new staff it is not easy as it can take a long time for them to settle. There does seem to be a bottle neck here with moving on. With our community it is hard for new Patients

Thank you so much for taking part in this piece of work for us to understand your experience on the ward and how we can improve the care and Sevice you receive as well as improving your experience in the hospital.


We have some plans to support and increase the activities for when you are on the ward and hope this once in place will improve your experience.

I have noted that the named nurse sessions appear to be a challenge in the MH Care stream so we will look in to what the challenge is and improve on this.

We have alos done alot of work with ensuring staff are placed where they are needed and some times this is difficult becacuse they may not like moving to other wards. If this is an issue please raise this with you Ward Manager, DM or one of the managers. I am happy to recieve a letter from you if this is something that is on going and causig you some distress. We have a robust recruitment stategy and this means we have numerous new staff to the hosital that require the support to learn the role.

Thank you for this posting. Adele has explained our plans with activities. But you make a good point about the importance of activities for helping people to feel safe and involved. It's great to hear that your relationship with your named nurse is going well. There are inevitably a lot of new staff in the Hospital because of the large number of retirements that are taking place. I am sure things will settle down. We have arrangements to support new starters.
