"Removal and Re-augmentation and Capsulectomy"

About: The Birkdale Clinic - Crosby

Monday 9th September 2019, was day of my surgery.

I was greeted by staff that made me feel very welcome and orientated onto ward, which was spotlessly clean.

This nurse had a very caring attitude, and really put me at ease, she offered me extra pillows without me even having to ask and explained where i would wake up and that if i had any pain or discomfort do not be afraid to keep asking, this really put me at ease...I saw the surgeon and he has such a lovely bedside manner I had no doubt in my mind at all I was in good hands.

Had surgery, it went really well, only draw back was i woke up with muscular pain, this was only due to having it done under the muscle, so was to be expected.

I did ask for pain relief straight away in recovery but the recovery nurse said I would receive it back on the ward, she transferred me really quickly back to the ward.

I felt cold due to anaesthetic and i asked for extra blankets.

I waited for pain relief but it didn't come so I had to press call bell and ask the ward nurse for pain relief and I got a little tearful. She ask me on a scale of 1-10 i said an 8 the ward nurse gave me pain relief to help with muscular pain, this made it more bearable, and the nurse returned again to check on my pain score i said a 7 and I said I needed a bit more and she got me another pain killer prescribed and after that I was on top of it, so all happy.

Great anaesthetic, no nausea woke up quite alert not to groggy for long... The nurse offered me a light snack so I had wholemeal toast and tea, and because i was now on top of the pain i was able to get dressed myself, before discharge she gave my some more pain relief.

Really brilliant care from the ward nurse she met all my care needs, offered me loads of water and tea, so all my needs were met.. Excellent Surgeon and ward nurse, and the HCA that took me back to reception carried my suitcase and offered me a drink in reception while i was waiting for my lift to arrive.. I am a recovery nurse myself so i had quite high expectations, the ward nurse met them all, so thank you so much..
