I was taken in an ambulance to Leighton on Saturday night which is not ideal. I was very ill and had several nasty things including what may have been sepsis. The staff were brilliant, on my ambulance bed in the corridor, they put a drip in straight away and took blood which was difficult as I was very dehydrated. I was placed near the loo thank goodness so could get up after the drip finished. I think every 20 minutes someone came to check and tell me if something was happening or just to be monitored. I could hardly concentrate but they told me what medicines I had had in the drip, what might happen next. There were a lot of poorly people lined up with me. At some point a stream of nurses, blood takers and others came to talk to me, take constant blood pressure, heart monitor temperature. I was taken into a smaller area where more treatment was put into the drip. Again being told what it would help me with. I cannot stress how diligent they were on a Saturday night that seemed like mayhem to me. Thank you all. Most grateful for their respect. They also looked at me as a person not just an MS person, which for me is refreshing. They treated my symptoms, gave me full asessment and after the horrors stopped a bit, I was told clearly that I could go home if I felt ok which I agreed to, with clearly marked medicine and instructions.
I am recovering and although exhausted, glad to still be here.
Thank you to the staff.
"Thank goodness for the excellent staff at Leighton"
