"Staff try to fill our time with meaningful activities"

About: Rampton Hospital / Mental Health Service

(as the patient),

I am a Patient on Burne ward. When I think about safety on the ward I would like to see more ward activities and more to do. For the Staff team to be effective I think they should be more open and Honest, I would like to see the CQC and Top Managers to come and visit more often to support us thought our pathway. I do feel cared for by staff who try to fill our time with meaningful activities like Pool, Competitions, Music the communal areas, game consoles which keep us occupied. I guess you could do more and Listen more, some Listen more than others. Our community, some do very little and some do more than others, by bringing us together and having more activity’s on the ward this is what Patients want and enjoy doing.

Thank you for this posting. I note you point about activities and I know that staff do their best to give you a varied programme. I agree that visibility of senior managers is important and I know they do shifts on wards and attend as many events as they can to enable conversations with patients to take place.

With best wishes.

Peter

Thank you for sharing this with us.

I am glad you have some activities on the nward that you enjoy. We do understand the days are long when you are in hosital and with this in mind we are looking at a new way of ensuring your are supported on a daily basis with meaningful activites. Once we have our plan we will share this with you.

We do try and get to the wards as much as possible but understand we may not see you all the time. We do attend the patinets council, forums and community meetings and try feed back information to these areas but again appreciate not all maangers go and not all patients.

Thank you

Adele Fox
