"Long wait,6 hs,after being told to come for..."

About: Salisbury District Hospital / General surgery

Went with my 26 yr old daughter suffering lower abdominal extreme pain and seen fairly quickly but then took 4 hours for feedback on results then sent home (1 am) told to come back next morning 9 am for scan. we sat for 6 hours, only being told when we asked after 3 hours, that they couldn't contact the team who do the ultrasound scans. Tried again at 4 hours, they still said they couldn't get a hold of them. At 5 hours, daughter had not eaten since night before and was very tired was starting to feel unwell, so asked again and then told that need to be slotted in somewhere, that we should not have been told to come in at 9 am, that we would be seen sometime but still could be hours. After 6 hours, surgeon came out to talk to us and made sure that my daughter was not in as much pain and apologized and said to come back the next morning.

it was frustrating not being informed and being brushed off. We were both tired, hungry and the hospital waiting areas were very cold. We didn't know if she would have to go for surgery or not so needed to stay til we had some assessment!
