I wait four weeks for an appointment with one particular doctor quite typical these days. When I check in at the very inconvenient time of 5 on a friday I am still waiting 40 minutes later. The screen said 8 minutes late. No explanation.

I leave very upset. This practice is going downhill. You will say no doubt it's about government cuts I say there is a basic level of service you are failing to provide like letting a patient know why he is being kept waiting. No communication, patient not valued. I repeat the practice is going to the dogs.

We are sorry to hear about the experience you have had.

If you could contact the surgery to give us some more details we will look into the areas you have mentioned.

You mentioned a few points in your comments and if we knew which patient you were we could more accurately respond.

In the meantime we can comment generally around these points.

For the waiting time of 4 weeks, was this to see a specific GP or were you waiting 4 weeks for any appointment? Also, was the appointment urgent?

The waiting time can differ if patients want to see a specific GP as it will depend on the number of sessions the GP works. A full time GP would work 9 sessions and in the surgery we have some GP’s who work between 4 and 9 sessions.

If a specific GP works 5 or 6 sessions they will not have the same availability as a GP who works 9 sessions and therefore the waiting time will be longer.

In reference to you waiting to see the GP when you arrived, this is a point that we can look into but further information would be appreciated so we can see which GP this was.

We can then investigate the reason they were running late and also why the correct time they were running behind was not communicated to you.
