Ward 11.
Been in hospital ten weeks, but in ward 11 two weeks. 90% positive. Wants to be helpful. Has condition that is deteriorating. Feels that the hierarchy is less forthcoming than other staff. Staff exemplary. Had issues removing blood but put in pi line. They looked outside the box. Has fear of needles, had ultra sound to find the main artery hence picline.
Thought he had airborne virus. Staff had all been good, but would pick a few for Christmas list. The pharmacist, Fiona, in particular talked him through his condition in layman’s term. Gave dietary advice. He believes in customer care and feels she went the extra mile for him. Patient from South Africa and is overwhelmed with treatment and feels that the NHS is not appreciated. Two doctors Ellie and Roision a special thanks for treatment. peter, the ward nurse is awesome, takes his work to another level.
Had infection in blood and was concerned length of time for results, but it was explained that lab doesn’t have facility due to number of blood samples taken each day. He was happy with explanation.
He felt so unwell at one point and asked for amputation, but two nurses Kat and Evette from ward 10, talked him round, consoled and reassured him.
During previous admission. He went to out of hours location and was sent home. He had just finished course of antibiotics that had made no difference.
He then came to hairmyers A&E, was sent home again without treatment.
He wasn’t happy and in pain doctor removed bandages and took sample of skin, redressed and sent home.
Had appointment with dermatology on the Friday redressed it and sent him home. Two days later he was admitted
Everything stable at the moment, treatment ongoing, on antibiotics.
Would like to mention two student nurses, Toni and Beth for attention.
