Brought my teenage daughter to the Children's A&E because of blood in flem from cough. Had been seen as emergency at the GP 10 days earlier. The A & E doctor was very unsympathetic. Though he said he wanted to get her well again, he then changed his mood and lamented that he can't help just because she doesn't feel too well. I would have expected a course of anti-biotics but been told to get a referral to a respiratory doctor instead. Obviously a referral to a respiratory doctor may take 6 months and the waiting time for a GP appointment are 6 weeks minimum. She needed medication there and then but was told to buy cough syrup over the counter for a chest inflammation and rub her ribs with Ibuprofen gel. I am amazed that such a person can work as doctor at a children's A&E department.
"No sympathy nor treatment"
