Having been sent to A+E by my GP i expected a smooth transition through the system. Alas this was never the case, initial triage after check in at 4pm was good at only 15 mins but then.....well nothing, around 90 mins later a man cam and said he was arranging a chair and i would go to ambulatory care, never happened, 30 mins late another nurse came and said the same ? in the end my husband wheeled me down to radiology some 2 hours after arriving, why the delay no idea. Quickly seen by radiology and sent to AC. Spent next few hours sat around, finally seen by a consultant around 9:30pm. He arranged for me to be admitted to ward 20 with Pnumonia. Care on ward 20 was disjointed, never really knowing what the plan was, people coming in with wrong notes, coming for bloods when they had just been done, samples not taken. Finally after two nights discharged, sent to discharge lounge at 5pm, took 4 hours then to get one box of antibiotics(which is also 7 days not 10 as promised, which ended up being tablets not liquid as promised, anti nausea tablets missing, ridiculous amount of time to discharge. All in all a really bad experience, whilst all the individuals you engage with are nice the system is clearly broken, over loaded, inefficient or just down right badly run. Not an experience i would wish to go through anytime soon.
"Disjointed and very inefficient"
