"Day patient"

About: Frimley Park Hospital (Frimley)

I am having an infusion in a department where one member of staff, a senior sister, is responsible for all the patients in this day unit. She has explained that she had and has, requested additional nurses, but they have not appeared.

She is apologising to us all. When I say one member of staff I mean one member, no care assistant or anyone.

They are doing a tremendous job, although I am worried about their health, when will they take a break, etc. I'm shocked, that a top rated hospital could allow this to happen.

Dear Melanie

I am sorry the day unit are short of nurses today, this was not expected and the nurse in charge has escalated that she needs help. I am also informing the Head of Nursing and matron to ensure she is supported. The nurse is doing a tremendous job and I have just spoken to her. We will ensure she has her breaks

regards
