I was referred to BMEC for an urgent examination by my optician. I had floaters in my eye that had worsened.
On arrival at reception it was good to see a red ‘respect’ line to wait behind to protect the person in front’s privacy and dignity. The clerk was polite, professional and friendly. I was then triaged very quickly and waited then for an eye test. The nurse was very nice who carried out the eye test and I was asked to return to the waiting area to be called through. A nurse then called me through to have some eye drops put in and I then had to wait 20 minutes for these to take effect. I then saw the doctor who examined my eye and informed me what the problem was, gave me advice and said I would receive a follow up appointment in a week’s time. The department was busy, but despite that, it all ran smoothly and people weren’t having to ask when they were going to be seen. I felt well informed and involved in my care at all times. From start to finish I was there 2 hours, which I feel is more than acceptable. The staff were kind, respectful and professional. The waiting areas were clean and drinks were available. I feel it is so important for the NHS to hear good feedback, the staff work extremely hard with the resources available to them and good care should be acknowledged more. Well done to you all for your excellent care!
