"My mum had a fall in my flat when she was staying with me"

About: Scottish Ambulance Service / Emergency Ambulance

(as a service user),

I made a 999 call recently and asked for an ambulance; she was in a lot of distress and my brother and I were concerned that she had broken something. We were advised to make her as comfortable as we could and not to move her.

The team of paramedics that arrived were very friendly and reassured mum that they would check to see if she had broken anything and managed to get her up and on to a chair taking her blood pressure, checking her heart etc.

The team consisted of Natasha, Tom and Ray (based at Sighthill). They showed mum a lot of respect and when the time came to get mum changed, Natasha and I washed and changed mum, maintaining her dignity/modesty at all times. This is very important for a lady of my mum's age.

I cannot speak more highly of the team they are credit to the NHS in general and the Scottish ambulance service in particular.

Dear Liz 19,

Thank you very much for taking the time to share this lovely feedback on Care Opinion. I am very sorry to read that your mother had reason to use our services but really pleased to read that the service received by our staff was of a standard that you describe. Being caring and compassionate and taking yourself away from the clinical side of our role can go such a long way. It is so pleasing to read about how you were further assisted by Natasha. I will forward this to their manager and ask that these comments are shared with them.

I hope that your mother is feeling better and I wish you all the very best.

Kind Regards

Alan
