"Emergency appendectomy"

About: Leicester General Hospital / Urology

I was transferred to the general 10/08 after being taken to the Leicester royal infirmary and being diagnosed as needing an appendectomy. The paramedic staff who transferred me were brilliant and despite arriving on ward 28 at gone 11pm I had all the obs, swabs and measurements taken. I had my appendix removed 12/08, transferred to ward 31 14/08 and was discharged 15/08. I would like to thank every single member of the ward staff, doctors and surgeons who took care of me.. Brought me pain relief, made me smile, constantly monitored me, kept me clean and and well fed. I have never been in hospital before except from giving birth and despite being in alot of pain and generally immobile the staff made me feel really safe and cared for. Everyone speaks to you in a polite tone, doctors, anesthesiologists and surgeons who visited were so friendly, down to earth and explained exactly what had had happened to me and what they would do to fix it. I will never be able to repay what all the staff at this hospital did for me and I will be eternally grateful to them for taking away my pain. I would like to add from my experience of laying in they wards how fowly the staff of the NHS can be spoken to by patients they are trying to help. Some people are incredibly rude and disrespectful and not once did I ever hear a member of staff react when they were spoken to badly. This requires an enormous strength of character as I myself would not be able to help someone who was treating me badly. My experience has enlightened me to see that it really does take a special type of person to work in a hospital and they no where near recieve the credit or gratitude they deserve.thank you in
