During my stay I looked froward to meal times, a change from the hum drum of routine procedures and tests etc.I ordered chicken .. it had been steamed ... has anyone ever heard of steamed chicken, it was rubbery but did enjoy a game of tennis across the ward using the chicken portion. Then I ordered all day breakfast ... the so called fried egg had been steamed, sausages stuffed with preservatives ... ghastly, looking nothing like an egg at all.Salmon, now that had to be a treat, but it was coated in a yellow plasticky looking film which I was told was a sauce. Finally I ordered a salad, what can do to spoil a salad? There was a a tiny bit of lettuce, sweet corn, tomatoes were huge chunks with the stalk stump still in place, no potatoes, and strips of chicken stuffed in a plastic pot.
I left hospital more aneamic than when I was admitted, aneamia being one of the concerns I was admitted for!
There was no other option even though i was told to ask the catering team member, so I went without.
I am due in hospital again in a few weeks time and plans to take a stock of food items in with me, something in a tin that can be eaten cold, anything has to be better than steamed meat?
The quality of the food is so poor, it has made me choose another hospital fro my care.I have complained but nothing changes.
"Food is disgusting!"
