Had to take my 22month old into A&E due to a fall and vomiting, I over heard the receptionist say to someone the waiting time is 4hrs so I automatically felt annoyed. However due to my daughters incident she had to be seen quite quickly, we were in there for a totally of 3hrs which consisted of, waiting time, being assessed by the nurse, then assessed by the DR, giving my child food and drink and observing to see if she would keep the food and drink down, oh and a final talk with the Dr followed by vital observations, and we were discharged. My point of my review is that although paediatrics A&E was so so so busy (I think busy than normal due to the summer holidays) the staff remained calm and professional, the longer we were there the busier it was getting. From my own observations I could tell that at least half the kids in there could have been seen/ treated at a GP surgery; but unfortunately it is so hard to get an on the day appointment with your local GP the only way to get seen is via A&E in this day and age. I just wanted to say thank you to the 2 nurses that assessed my daughter, along with the friendly Doctor.
"Amazing service at such busy times"
