"Smoking outside the cancer dept entrance"

About: Royal Derby Hospital

After many visits to different departments finally ending up with a course of of radiotherapy for prostate cancer my husband and I have made many visits to the hospital. All the staff along the way have been very kind and thoughtful and it has made this journey much easier.

Unfortunately that cannot be said for the number of inpatients (in their nightwear and with drips attached) who continually smoke in the entrance to the cancer dept. Although very large notices are displayed this does not deter them, even one person was smoking inside the entrance last week as it was too wet to stand outside, I overheard him telling a fellow smoker. They also stand inside the kiosk area where people pay for the carpark.

Although they may be at most times outside the smell of smoke permeates the corridor immediately inside. The entrance is dirty and covered with many cigarette ends. When entering this entrance of the hospital this is not what I expected to see and smell every time we come for the appointment. This entrance certainly lets the hospital down.
