About: Glasgow Royal Infirmary / Trauma & orthopaedics (wards 26, 27, 61 & 62 ) University Hospital Hairmyres / Trauma & Orthopaedics (Wards 1 & 5) University Hospital Monklands / Critical Care Unit

(as the patient),

I was taken to ward 5 after spending 1 night in icu when I was flown back from 2 weeks in a Turkish hospital with Necrotising Fasciitis

I stayed for 2 nights before being transfered to Glasgow Royal for my amputation surgery after spending over a week there I was moved back to Hairmyres ward 5 for my recovery and I couldn't have been happier the nurses and the care given was fantastic,

Im a very independent person so adjusting to life with one leg was going to be a task but they were amazing so encouraging and so helpful from the nursing staff, to the physio's and OT's there is not one person who works on ward 5 that I could fault they are all amazing and the nurse's do not get enough praise for the work they do and the things they deal with on a daily basis.

Dear Louise8415,

Firstly I thank you for taking the time to put some lovely comments on Care Opinion in relation to the staff on ward 5.

It sounds as though you have had a very traumatic experience and therefore all the more important to have caring, understanding and encouraging staff to care for you at such a difficult time. It is rewarding for us as a team to hear that we make a difference to people's journey through difficult times.

I will pass your kind words onto Jill the Occupational Therapist who cared for you while in ward 5. Please accept my thanks and good wishes for continued improvement in your rehabilitation now that you are at home.
