Having become ill at home my GP referred me to the stroke unit. where I was very pleased with the way the stroke nurse explained the reason why I may have had a TIA and carried out some physical tests. He told me that I would be referred to a consultant. Although my husband was with me he walked beside me until I reached the car park to give me confidence. When My appointment arrived for seeing the consultant I was obviously a little dubious about going. No worries! All the nursing staff were so kind and efficient, with a few laughs along the way. Having said this, the receptionists in the MRI dept were not pleasant at all and seemed totally disinterested. No explanations were given at all, just a gown handed to me but no mention of where to get changed and what to do next. I assumed they had received my notes and for a head scan a robe was not needed. Prior to this I had been seen by the consultant. He definitely was one of the nicest people I have ever met. He put me at ease immediately, spoke in a lighthearted manner and carried out tests on me. He decided that I hadn’t had a TIA and was suffering from vertigo. He previously asked both me and my husband any questions he thought relevant. The nurses in the office near to him agreed that he had a lovely disposition and a great sense of humour. All in all a very big thanks.
"More than happy"
