"Hysteroscopi"

About: Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital (Wonford) / Gynaecology

(as the patient),

I had an appointment at my local hospital out patients dept where I had a scan of my cervix which showed the lining of the womb was too thick so I was given another appt to have a hysteroscopic procedure which I attended and the nurse I saw noticed I take blood thinning tablets. The nurse asked me if I had stopped them and I said no because nobody had informed me stop them so I could not have the procedure done I was given another appt to see a consultant again the letter did not say anything about stopping the riveroxiban so I rang them and spoke to a staff member about this and they said they didn't know so I rang the ward. There was no answer so I stopped it. At the appt i was asked if I had stopped the riveroxiban I told him what happened and the staff member said sorry about that.

The procedure was the most painful experience I have ever  known, I have had 4 children and that pain was nothing compared to what I had just been through. A few days after I felt poorly and had a urine infection again very painful so gave me antibiotics. I would never go back and have a hysteroscopy or anything like it, I felt it was traumatic and it has left me feeling very anxious thank you
