My husband was admitted for a triple bypass.
He went for surgery the following day at 2pm, I went in to visit him at 6pm and he was in icu. His nurse was amazing very calm, friendly and it felt like they knew what they were doing explaining everything to me, I went away feeling quite possitive.
However the following day when I went to visit he was moved to hdi with what I felt was a very poor level of care. My husband was sitting on the chair trying to sleep. I asked the nurse to put him back in to bed and he was told he had only been up for 2 hours and it was too early although he was sore and tired, he asked for painkillers and was given 2 paracetamol. He said he needed something stronger and waited more than 2 hours because the nurse forgot, he went to sleep that night and was woke up after 12 midnight with staff shouting to one another and cursing
The next day he was moved to 3 east where I felt the level of care was nil. He woke up with a plumber plunging his sink. He was woke up that night with someones tv on loud and nurses carrying on noisily when he was getting out he was giving paracetamol for pain relief with it being a saturday we had to wait till monday to get some proper pain killers from his own gp
To say I was disgusted with care given to my husband is an under statement I felt that he was treated with absolutely no professionalism.
