"Inadequate Service"

About: Monkseaton Medical Centre

I struggled to give this Surgery 2 Stars. Moved to the Area a Year ago. Still not yet seen a Doctor in my hole time being a patient. I have to have medication for a heart condition as well as high blood pressure. I used to get my Meds monthly and all together. Since moving hear i get most my meds every 2 months and 1 tablet i have to get monthly. And fill a request form to get this tablet moved to 2 monthly. When ive never had a problem getting all my meds together at my previous Surgery. I should of had a yearly meds Review and blood test due in April 2019.

Yes i missed an appointment that they sent me out in April for August. I never received a text Reminder near to the appointment date. Ive now been given another opportunity to get my bloods done at the end of September. I dont think this Surgery is a patient caring practice. Ill be looking to making a formal complaint to the NHS about the Standards this Surgery covers

May I apologise on behalf of the Practice for the unsatisfactory experience and difficulties you have recently encountered. We welcome all patient feedback as this provides us with a valuable insight into our services from a patient’s perspective and allows us to reflect on Practice performance. The Practice has a system for all patients enabling them to order their prescriptions every 2 months in order to reduce the amount of time they need to contact us to order.

If you wish to order on a monthly basis then you can contact the Practice and arrange for that to happen.

The tablet you receive monthly may be a drug that needs to be monitored.

The Practice has a robust system for monitoring patients with a long term condition. We send an invitation for an appointment and follow this up with 2 letters if a patient does not attend the first appointment. A text message is sent as a reminder for the appointment if we have the correct mobile number on the system.

If the home telephone number is the first number and mobile number the second number then the message can't be sent.

As this is an anonymous complaint I am unable to fully address your concerns.

I am happy to discuss this with you further to explain our systems in more detail.

If you think this would be a better means of resolving your issues please contact the surgery and ask for the complaints manager.
