"Birth of our baby girl"

About: Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Maternity care (Wards 47, 48 & 50) Queen Mother's Hospital / Maternity care

(as the patient),

I have to say how impressed we are with the care we received at the Queen Elizabeth Maternity Hospital. I was brought in for induction to ward 48 and was taken care of by a lovely midwife Emma. She made me feel secure and at ease and explained everything thoroughly. Things did not progress as we were hoping but the girls on the night shift ran me a bath and did their best to keep me comfortable before being moved down to the labour ward where midwife Nikki took care of me all day. Everyone we came across midwives and doctors alike were friendly and professional. I ended up with an emergency C-section but everything was explained to me. The theatre team were so friendly. I have to say although things did not go as planned I had a very good birth experience. The care I received in recovery was incredible and I was given one to one care again. The lovely midwife gave me a full wash and made me something to eat. She calmed me down when I was worried about my first night as a new mum and gave me a big hug which really made all the difference. Thank you to everyone who looked after me and our little girl. I'm just sorry I can't remember everyone's names.

Dear SB19

Thank you so much for taking the time to give feedback on the maternity care you received from the maternity team at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Maternity Unit.

I am delighted that you found the midwives and medical staff to be friendly, caring and professional– it is something we do strive to achieve for every woman.

I have forwarded your feedback to the staff in Ward 48 and in the Labour Suite, and they are very appreciative of your comments.

I do hope you and the baby are well.

Kind regards

Mairi McDemid

Lead Midwife

Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Maternity Unit.
