"It's worth it"

About: Highly Specialist Services / Eating disorder service

(as a service user),

I developed anorexia over numerous months due to over-exercising which I thought was ‘healthy’.

It then led to me meticulously counting calories, non-stop exercise and becoming unbelievably unhappy. Everything in my life at that time felt wrong and I was constantly feeling hopeless, due to the continuous cycle of disordered habits.

I then got referred to St. Georges where they were helpful, supportive and understanding, although I was extremely nervous when I first started. They eventually helped me break those habits and become happy again, as well as helping me make great friends who I see regularly.

I cannot stress enough how important getting help is, it may cause anxiety to begin with but it’s worth it.
