My daughter was sent to the Emergency Surgical Unit with abdominal and back pain. She was sent by her GP. There is a multitude of staff who stand around chatting and not about work! The so called waiting area is actually a corridor which contains the staff toilet, kitchen and the cleaners cupboard! Cleaning cupboard is in constant use and the cleaners have large trolleys that they have to get past the patients who are seated in the so-called waiting room! I saw someone hit on three occasions by trolleys! It was ridiculous! This area is not fit for purpose! People were waiting for 2 and 3 hours for scan results, and considering they are there as they are in pain, and they gathered in an office next to the waiting area, this is not acceptable! When in the assessment ward there are curtains drawn round while being examined but when talking to doctors there is no privacy what so ever! We could hear everyone else's consultations! There were other staff members wandering around and they were just having a good old chat about nonsense which we could also hear! So much for the caring profession! As an ex-nurse, I found them to be a quite lazy, undisciplined and extremely unprofessional!
