From the start LAS were lovely, very caring and reassuring and transferred my mum from home to A&E quickly.
She was assessed very quickly by a doctor and blood tests, X Ray carried out straight away.
She was moved quickly from a trolley in a cubicle so was comfortable.
Decision was made to admit and she was found a bed in another area beside A&E to wait for a bed in a main ward.
I am aware of the pressures QEH are under and doing the best with limited facilities.
Dr’s were kind, also the majority of the nursing staff.
It seems such a shame that nurses, healthcare assistants and admin staff let the side down.
Clinical staff were wearing false nails, false eyelashes as large as broom heads, were sitting at nursing station on their mobiles, one member of staff was actually assisting a patient one handed whilst texting with the other.
Although this doesn’t directly affect care why is it that professional standards drop.
Surely presenting a professional service has an overall impact on the thoughts of patients/friends and relatives passing through the service in difficult circumstances.
