"Waiting times for scan results"

About: New Victoria Hospital / X-rays and scans

(as a service user),

My husband had a scan over a year ago to check for a post op blood clot. There was no clot found. Thanks.

Surely it could have been noted that there was asbestos plaque and that the heart was enlarged? It would have been good to know heaving my breathless husband to and fro to docs trying to find a cause for pain and constant cough. On finally seeing a specialist, we were given the news and ordered a deeper scan of the heart and lungs to determine updated diagnosis. The scan was carried out several weeks ago. According to the specialist's secretary, it will be a further 2 weeks from now making it almost 9 weeks waiting for a scan report!

All new shiny facade, but mismanaged departments just like the old days! This department is a crucial area for diagnosis and yet seems to be seriously neglected/ignored by administration. How many departments are affected by the ripple effect this causes is anyone's guess. How many advertisements does the NHS pay to inform us that early detection is the key to cancer recovery? If you're unfortunate enough to require a scan, ask to have it elsewhere.

Dear Reluctant Complainer

Thank you for getting in touch.

It can take a number of weeks for results as your husband’s scans need to be analysed by a radiologist. After analysing the images, the radiologist will write a report and send it to the doctor who referred your husband for the scan so they can discuss the results. I appreciate how worrying it is when waiting for test results and please accept my apologies for the delay.

Can you ask your husband to get in touch with his personal details (Name and date of birth) and we can see if we can get an update. My email address is Nicole.McInally@ggc.scot.nhs.uk

Please pass on my apologies to your husband.

Kind Regards

Nicole
