I thought I'd write a review here. I'm currently in conversation with the Complaints Department in RUH for related matters, so I'll ensure this review is based solely on my experience on being kept in following being admitted to A&E. So firstly, the A & E team were very good on my admission to the department however, this is where the compliments stop I'm afraid. About six hours after being in A & E I was taken to a ward where I was put in a corner and forgotten about. Pain relief was none existant, even after the Consultant visited me and told me that they would get my pain under control and then they'd see if I could go home. While there, my pain relief consisted of four 500mg Paracetamol and one shot of oral morphine (the morphine being 2 and a half hours after it was due!). I was in a cubical with very little contact, having to inform them about scans and Morphine, things they should know and do. I was on an A & E trolley for seventeen and a half hours, even worse was the communication between the three departments I stayed in. No information passed between them regarding the fact I need crutches to walk, no information passed regarding my own medications. When I was finally admitted to a ward, they weren't aware of this. Mostly, I'm disappointed that more wasn't done to investigate the root cause which renders the time I spent there a waste of time for all involved, from the two Paramedics and the Ambulance Technician whlo treated and transported me, the hospital staff and myself.
