"Excessively Long Wait Times For Urogynaecology..."

About: St Helier Hospital / Gynaecology

This is my 2nd review, as I tried to publish a review recently on the excessively long waiting times for Urogynaecology appointments but it was rejected. I can't understand why, as I have got an issue with the system, not with any individual or individuals and it didn't contain any extreme views, any language which may offend readers, NHS staff or patients or highly personal feedback. I didn't mention any names or gender or anything else deemed unsuitable by the moderators. In fact my Consultant is very nice, polite, a good listener and easy to talk to. The issue is with a lack of available appointments to see my Consultant, whose waiting time to see them is now 10 months. I feel it is unlikely I am going to get an appointment to see them, unless I am willing to wait 10 months. Also, there are no dedicated Post-Op clinics in the Urogynaecology Department, which made seeing my Consultant impossible after my surgery, within the time frame on my Discharge Summary which was 3-4 months, when they didn't have any appointment's for 9-10 months. I value having a good patient-doctor relationship, which I feel I am not getting when I have to see a different doctor each time I have an out-patient appointment. There is a very high demand on the Urogynaecology Service, which means patients like myself have to wait a long time between appointments. This situation needs looking at by the Management team urgently.
