Takes forever for staff to buzz visitors in during the visiting hours. Mostly rely on other visitors leaving the ward to be able to enter. I'd gone to visit my grandad in the Stroke ward, on 1 occasion I witnessed a nurse blatantly ignoring 1 patient as he begged her to change him as he was soiled (she was sat in the chair next to him) . He was crying and was in severe distress and to watch her ignore him as if he didn't exist greatly upset me and my partner to see. Another time the staff put my grandads buzzer on the wall, knowing he couldn't access it, he needed access to the buzzer for help. Surely nurses should be aware that vulnerable patients should be able to physically access the buzzer. When questioning the nurse, was told that it must have been put there in the morning, this meant that my grandad didnt have access to it until I'd seen him in the late afternoon. He told me he had been looking everywhere for it and eventually gave up. I find this particular ward is let down by some of the nurses who are quite rude when questioned about certain aspects of care for family members, surely vulnerable patients in this stroke unit should have greater attention paid to them to help in their recovery.
