"They should all be proud of the care they provide"

About: University Hospital Wishaw / Trauma & orthopaedics

(as the patient),

Having previously had a right total hip replacement at the Golden Jubilee   and had an excellent experience I did not think that receiving a left total hip replacement at University Hospital Wishaw would beat my previous experience but it has!

From the orthopaedic out patient appointment to my discharge my care was nothing but exceptional.   My surgeon Dr MacDonald always ensured that I was fully informed on all aspects of my care and was always kind, caring and compassionate. His registrar alleviated my concerns within the day surgery unit. Importantly he took the time to answer all my questions. All the staff within day surgery introduced themselves and did all they could to make me feel less anxious. Dr Dalchow the anaesthetist was warm friendly and very reassuring. I always felt I was in safe hands.

Even within the recovery room I was never felt alone and every need was met. Particularly from my wonderful nurses Mags and Kelly Marie. Dr Bell also looked after me in recovery and had a very reassuring and caring presence. Once I returned to the ward 14 my care remained exceptional. I always knew which nurse was responsible for my care. All were great, but Amy, bank nurse Linda, Joanne and Wendy stood out and ensured all my care needs were met. Most of all I was impressed by the outstanding team effort. The physios, the OT staff, pharmacist, X-ray staff, porters and not forgetting the pain team. All were excellent and they should all be proud of the care they provide.   Well done Wishaw and thank you
