"A member of staff being rude"

About: IC24 NHS 111 / NHS 111 (South Essex) Thurrock Community Hospital / Out of hours service

(as a parent/guardian),

I phoned 111 at 6. 33pm to get my son to be seen I got told I would get a phone call back with in 2 hours. by 10. 30 pm I took my son to the chemist because I still haven’t had a phone call back from 111 and they told me to take him to long lane hospital because they didn’t know what it was on my son.

I arrived there to be spoken to rudely by the staff member and I had my other kids with me and then the person put this form in my face and told me to fill this, I replied with please would be nice and then again the they spoke to me like I was a child and said they don’t have to let me get seen, they can get me to go over a&e. So I just filled the from out and got seen 30 minutes later.

After the doctor seen my son I went to the reception and asked for the staff member's name and then the person went to why I would need their name. I said I want to put in a complaint about you, and the reply was they wouldn't give their name, and threw the complaint card on the desktop at me and said that they would write one about me. So I took the card and come back home with my 3 kids I felt so embarrassed that a member of staff can talk to any body like this any to do it in front of children my daughter got really scared

Dear parent,

I'm really sorry to hear that you didn't have a good experience using your local urgent primary care services.

We would welcome the opportunity to look into your experience further and provide you with feedback as to your patient journey, and for us to be able to speak to any of the healthcare professionals that you spoke to during your jounrey who work for us.

If you could email details of your case to Complaints.ic24@nhs.net then we can communicate with you further to get you some answers as to what happened.

With best wishes to you and your son,

Richard
