I attended the maternity ward Day care centre as l had reduced movements. I had contacted triage and was told to come in and that although it was early and baby was still small at 22 weeks the midwife told me l will be monitored to ensure that there was nothing else happening and that baby is healthy. So l attended the maternity Day unit. I arrived with my kids and l was asked how many months l was. The moment l said 22 weeks the midwife rolled her eyes and started mumbling that 22 weeks is early and that the baby is small and that l would not feel the baby. As she told me to get on the bed she said to me she will be discharging repeated this twice within the conversation. It felt as if l was wasting her time. She said she will check me quickly . She heard the baby heart beat and said that she will be discharging me now the baby was ok. As l left the hospital l really thought why l came to get checked as l felt l was brushed off and to be honest if this was my first baby l would honestly with this treatment not return even if l was to have a problem and never did again up to now as the experience really shocked me. I am a professional myself working in the NHS and would never think that this is how women who are early are treated maybe it is just me. I was never asked any questions to whether l was in pain or any other information. I know midwives are busy usually but that day they were not yet l can hear the lady next door was asked questions and checked and spoken to in a respectful manner.
