"Palliative care"

About: University Hospital Monklands

(as a relative),

The palliative care I've seen within Monklands hospital has been appalling.

No consideration was given to the patient or family.

Pain control was not managed.

OT and social work involvement did not seem interested in care.

Assessment of needs not completed.

Discharged home in pjs without shoes or slippers.

Discharged without pain relief.

Discharged without a hospital mattress that was promised.

No assessment of the suitability of the home prior to discharge.

Nursing staffs concerns ignored by ward manager and Others involved in discharge.

Tests not being carried out correctly to determine if confusion is down to UTI or progression of cancer.

Staff continually failed to notify and involve patient and family in decision making process.

Dear Evie2,

It is with great sadness that I read your recent experience of our hospital services. It would be really helpful if you could please provide us with more information about this experience so that we can properly review your relative's time here.

Please contact either myself direct on 01236 712570 or our patient affairs Manager, Melanie MacLean on 01236 713065

In the meantime, please accept my apologies and absolute best wishes to both yourself and your wider family.

Regards

Fraser
